The transportation of caviar will be controlled at the Kamchatka airport
From November 1, 2022, the law on the restriction of the carriage of caviar in passengers' luggage from the territory of the region comes into force. At the main airport of Kamchatka, a mechanism for controlling the transportation of a delicacy is being worked out.
According to the law, if a passenger has up to 10 kilograms of caviar in their luggage, then no documents are required. According to the press service of the regional government, at the entrance to the airport, a corresponding tag will be pasted on the luggage, which confirms the permissible weight of the transported caviar.
If the weight of the caviar exceeds the limit, the Rosselkhoznadzor staff will act in accordance with the established procedure by which such a cargo will be identified. If the caviar does not have the appropriate markings and documents, then a corresponding tag will be pasted, prohibiting the carriage of passengers in personal baggage by air. According to the deputy head of Rosselkhoznadzor Konstantin Savenkov, the agency is now finalizing the rules for checking passengers' luggage.
"Through the joint efforts of the transport police and the airport security service, caviar of unknown origin or exceeding the norms and parameters of carriage defined by regulatory documents will be determined. After that, a decision will be made either on admission to transportation by air, or return to the passenger and ban its export. Special equipment will be used for the inspection. The Rosselkhoznadzor information systems will also be involved in the inspection, which will allow tracking the movement of caviar to a specific producer, vessel and catch batch in the Mercury system," Savenkov said.
The government of Kamchatka notes that it will be allowed to export caviar in excess of 10 kilograms if there are: manufacturer's markings on transport and consumer containers that meet the requirements of technical regulations; declaration (certificate) of conformity and manufacturer's quality certificate obtained from the seller; a document confirming the ownership of the products (cash or commodity receipt).
