The project of the Magadan airport complex has passed state expertise, a tender for the selection of a contractor will be announced soon, the governor of the Magadan region Sergey Nosov said at the Eastern Economic Forum.
Magadan International Airport (Sokol) named after Vladimir Vysotsky is an airport of federal significance. It has one runway and provides regular flights to the Magadan region with airports in the Far East, Siberia and Moscow. At the end of 2019, passenger traffic amounted to 426 thousand passengers, and cargo traffic – 9 thousand tons. Based on the peculiarities of the geographical location, Magadan Airport is an alternative facility for connecting residents of the Magadan region with the regions of Russia, and therefore the development of the airport is one of the priority projects of the region.
"The project came out of the state examination, there was a state examination. Now companies are preparing documentation for a tender to select a contractor. Purely technically, and the time it takes to work out the regulations. At the end of October, we need to know the surname, first name and patronymic of the contractor who will build this complex," Nosov said.
He added that preparatory work, delivery of equipment and materials for construction can begin before the end of this year.
