The New Istanbul Airport will be accessible by metro

The Turkish Ministry of Transport announces the opening of a metro line leading to the New Istanbul Airport.

"The section of the Kagithane high—speed line - the New Istanbul Airport, which residents and guests of the city have been waiting for, will be opened on January 22, 2023 in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the minister said.

According to him, the fastest trains in Turkey will be launched on the route — they will reach a speed of 120 km/h. Thus, from the Kagithane district in the north of Istanbul, the airport can be reached in 24 minutes.

The M11 branch will connect a number of districts of the city with the air harbor, but the section from Kagithane will be launched first. In total, three stations are planned on the territory of the airport.
