Free travel by express to Novy Urengoy Airport will be introduced on April 1
The authorities of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District have introduced free air express travel between the train station and the modernized airport in the largest city of the region, Novy Urengoy.
"From April 1, free travel for those traveling by train or plane will be introduced on the route between the station and the airport of Novy Urengoy. The decision was made by the Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Dmitry Artyukhov," the message says.
Air express trains have been launched since January 2, 2023, their schedule is synchronized with the departure and arrival of the main flights. Eight turnaround flights are operated daily. Buses can accommodate 30 people with luggage.
The upgraded Novy Urengoy Airport was officially opened on February 9, 2023. The airport named after the founder of Soviet petroleum geology Ivan Gubkin was reconstructed in two years. The modernization of the air hub has become the first airport infrastructure project in Russia implemented under a concession. The new passenger terminal with an area of 19 thousand square meters is equipped with three telescopic ladders and 12 check-in counters, its capacity is 840 passengers per hour.
