Construction of a new terminal has been completed at Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport

The construction of the airport's largest passenger terminal in the Russian Far East has been completed on Sakhalin Island.

Currently, the facility is being checked by regulatory authorities, in addition, electronic systems are being set up in the terminal.

According to the governor of the Sakhalin region Valery Limarenko, the scale of the work done will impress even the most experienced travelers: "it is very comfortable, technologically advanced and cozy. The opening is eagerly awaited by the residents of the region."

The terminal will have 26 check-in counters, there are spacious and comfortable departure waiting areas with sockets for mobile devices. The building also has 11 boarding gates, 50 passport control booths and 8 security checkpoints.

Construction of a new runway continues, it will be able to receive and send all types of aircraft.

Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk Airport will soon be able to serve up to 5 million passengers a year — five times more than at the moment.
