Cigarette smuggling stopped at Varna airport
A record batch of smuggled cigarettes has been detained by the Bulgarian Customs Service at Varna International Airport. It is previously reported that 2,676 packages of cigarettes, as well as several kilograms of tobacco, were found in the luggage of a Bulgarian citizen traveling from Varna to Hamburg (Germany). An investigation is underway. The goods are confiscated, its owner will be fined.
The Bulgarian government has announced a large-scale anti-smuggling campaign. Checks and controls have been strengthened at road and railway border checkpoints, as well as airports and seaports.
